TMA Tournament

Captains Journal:

Sergio Atanes put together a nice tournament with SKANSKA. Lee Roy Selmon and Joe were on my boat in support of the Tampa Museum of Art. They raised a whole bunch of money and people were out to win a lot of money. I had the right plan with another captain Dennis Banks on the boat. I was told there were no GOLIATH grouper allowed to be measured. Makes sense as you are not allowed to take them out of the water. It is actually illegal! So I did not go after them but originally had that as part of my plan. We ended up hooking and jumping two tarpon. One was in the 180-200lb class. Another in the 110lb class. We got popped by a nice cobia on the markers and landed a few mackerel. Coming back up the bay we ran into a real bait ball. Cast a live bait and screaming drag went off. 200yds of line became a scarce commodity very quickly. The only thing that makes sense is a smoker kingfish! We got back to the dock with some really good stories. Sounded like we did really well in relation to the competition but did not place. Woulda coulda shoulda does not count! haaaahahaha! Good times were had by all!

Side note! Lee Roy is one person that is not only famous in his own right, but is also famously generous with his time and heart! I am again a better person for the time spent with him on my boat! Get In, On or Around the water!
